CHNC with Turnkey Provides Accuracy and Increased Output
ELMIRA, NY (February 10, 2022) – Accuracy, time savings, and higher production numbers were the top byproducts from Glastonbury Southern Gage’s purchase of the Computerized Numerical Hardinge Chucker (CHNC) with Turnkey set-up. Located in Erin, Tennessee, Glastonbury Southern Gage, recognized for producing a variety of gages, including thread ring gages, has seen its manufacturing time reduced by 50% once it began utilizing the CHNC with Hardinge’s Turnkey Integrated Solutions.
Since 2019, the CHNC with Turnkey set-up dramatically helped Glastonbury streamline the production of its smaller gages. “Our group of engineers, led by Turnkey/Custom Solutions Manager Dirk Cosgrove, were able to consolidate Glastonbury’s gage producing processes into one operation,” said Hardinge Senior Account Manager, Bradley Devon.
Glastonbury had been producing a wide range of gage parts on several different machines. Cosgrove points out how consolidation to one machine changed everything when Glastonbury utilized the CHNC with Turnkey set-up. “We programmed the CHNC so it could accurately manufacture hundreds of very complex parts.”
For Gerald Rye, Glastonbury Southern Gage’s General Manager, Hardinge’s Turnkey Integrated Solutions took his company’s production of these complex gages to another level. “We didn’t have the expertise in-house to program the CHNC to meet our production needs ,” said Rye. “We were very impressed with Hardinge’s Turnkey Operation because, quite frankly, Hardinge carried us to a level we never expected to get. They were an awesome group to deal with.”
To increase a company’s productivity, Hardinge’s Turnkey Integrated Solutions offers the following integrated solutions services across turning, milling, grinding, and workholding:
- Part Process Development
- Equipment and Cellular Automation
- Machine Modifications
- Custom-Designed Machines
- Field Work
Rye said the CHNC with Turnkey set-up enabled Glastonbury Southern Gage to cut its manufacturing time in half from what the company had been doing previously. “It wasn’t only the CHNC machine, but Hardinge’s Turnkey group made this happen. I don’t believe there’s anyone else on the planet to get us to where we’re at today,” said Rye.
