Grinding Specialists Inc. Hits the Jackpot with USACH 75
Hardinge Inc. Cylindrical Grinder Product Delivers Accuracy and Power
Purchasing the USACH 75 cylindrical grinder from Hardinge, Inc. has allowed Grinding Specialists, Inc. to increase its grinding service by 30%. The Westland, Michigan company values all of the capabilities of the USACH 75, but in particular its accuracy, flexibility, and power.
The USACH 75, in its compact design, specializes in the production of small precision parts manufacturing where IDs, ODs and faces need grinding . Dennis Johnson, Jr., Grinding Specialists Inc.’s Plant Manager for Maintenance, said his company did its homework before buying the USACH 75. “Our primary purchasing criteria called for a production capable ID grinder that can hold 50 millionths tolerance,” said Johnson, Jr. The USACH 75 checked that box for Grinding Specialists.
Shortly after the sale and installation of the USACH 75, Robert Klee, Sr. Account Manager for Hardinge, Inc. received almost immediate feedback from the leadership at Grinding Specialists Inc. “ The company was blown away with the magnitude and accuracy of this machine, so much so, that Grinding Specialists purchased a second machine from us in July,” explained Klee.
As Dennis Johnson, Sr., Grinding Specialists Owner, emphasized that the machine’s capabilities weren’t the only factors with his company’s decision making process. “The sales and support provided by Hardinge, Inc. is 100% perfect,” said Johnson, Sr. “The people we’ve interacted with at Hardinge are honest, local people. If we run into any type of problem, in some cases someone from Hardinge can be here that same day. That kind of service doesn’t exist anymore.”
Among some of the features associated with the USACH 75 include the following :
Optimized ergonomics for easiness of set-up and maintenance for manual loading and unloading.
Low pressure air purge system and labyrinth seal incorporated to keep coolant contamination out of the spindle bearings.
Optional feature of fully integrated automation, parts handling and post process measuring system.
Most of the parts associated with the USACH 75 were produced in the United States. For Grinding Specialists, the ability to access needed parts quickly is critical to producing product. “Hardinge’s parts center is one of the best I’ve ever dealt with,” said Johnson, Sr. “If I need tooling or whatever and it’s in stock, I can get it overnight. That also serves as a key selling point for this machine.”
